Piping design is generated through the construction of a 3D computer modeling system that serves as the database and graphic representation of the proposed project assets. The construction of the piping systems that connect equipment and that are supported by structures are input to the model and used as the extraction database in generating piping systems. In-line instrumentation, piping specifications, valves, specialty items, and other items are included in the piping model and can be utilized for developing bills of material (BOMs), and support for cost estimates.
